VET FEE-HELP is part of the Australian Government Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) and assists eligible full fee-paying students to pay for all or part of their tuition costs for certain courses with TAFE SWSi.
This means you can study now, gain the qualification you need to get the new job or promotion, and pay back the loan when your income meets the 2017-2018 income year threshold of $55,874.
Loans for students in government subsidised training places
VET FEE-HELP loans are available to eligible students in NSW Government subsidised training places to pay their TAFE NSW fee for Diploma, Advanced Diploma and selected Certificate IV courses.
There is no loan fee for VET FEE HELP loans to students in NSW Government subsidised training places. Find more information about these changes at VET FEE-HELP: Loans for students in government subsidised training places.
How do I repay the loan?
You start repaying your HELP debt through the taxation system once your income is above the compulsory repayment threshold (which is adjusted each year) - even if you are still studying. For the 2017–18 income year the threshold will be $55,874.
HELP debts are managed by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). Please contact the ATO on 13 28 61 to find out the balance of your HELP debt. Be sure to have your tax file number (TFN) handy when you call.
